College Transportation
Four County Transit in conjuncture with Southwest Virginia Community
College (SwVCC), Mountain Empire Community College (MECC), and
University of Virginia College at Wise (UVA-WISE) offers transportation to and from
college Monday through Friday to
registered students. This service has been available since 2000
and operates in all three of the college semester terms (Fall, Spring
and Summer).
Eligibility Requirements
This transportation is public routes and open to anyone who wants to
ride. Also, the service is
not a
door-to-door provided service. There are pick up points located
throughout all four counties -- be at the point closest to you and Four
County will get you to school! The service is available for day
classes only. The bus arrives at the college daily by 8:00 AM and
departs from the college daily at 3:30 PM.
Is there a cost involved?
The cost for public riders is our normal rate. College
transportation is a service provided by Four County Transit and the
three colleges at NO
CHARGE to the students and college staff. Any
registered student or staff person can ride free of charge due to local
match from Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell, and Tazewell counties through
their Board of Supervisors. Students can ride in the morning as
well as the afternoon, or you can just ride one way - which ever fits
into your schedule most easily.
How do I schedule to ride the bus?
Please call Four County Transit at the numbers provided below so we
can make sure you are on the right route and bus. You only need to do so
at the first of each school term which will help us in planning as to
the size of the bus needed for that route and for reporting
requirements.
