College Routes

Council & Honaker area college riders use the SwVCC Eagle Express Dickenson-Russell County route.

· Four County Transit — in partnership with Southwest Virginia Community College (SwVCC), Mountain Empire Community College (MECC), and University of Virginia College at Wise (UVA-Wise) — offers transportation to and from college Monday through Friday. The service is available (day classes only) to registered students during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. The bus arrives at the colleges daily by 8:00 AM and departs daily at 3:30 PM.

· Please call Four County Transit at the beginning of each school term to help us plan routes and bus sizes, as well as to help us meet reporting requirements. Call us at 1-276-963-1486 or 1-888-656-2272.

· All college routes are subject to change based on requests received from students needing transportation to and from college.

· Registered students and college staff/faculty ride free thanks to matching funding from Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell, and Tazewell counties’ boards of supervisors.

· College route fare is FREE for college students and staff/faculty who present college ID, seniors at least 60 years old, and children 5 or younger who are accompanied by an adult.

· College routes are public routes and open to anyone who wants to ride. Fare for public riders is $1.00 per boarding.

· Schedules are based on the bus’s average speed and the distance between major stops. Arrive at the bus stop several minutes before the scheduled pick-up time. Because bus arrival times are approximate and vary depending on traffic, construction, accidents, or weather conditions, please plan for the possibility that the bus may arrive up to ten minutes before or after the scheduled pick-up time.

· At your request, the bus can stop at other locations that are along its route. In order to arrive at scheduled stops on time, the bus cannot deviate from the route.

· Demand response service is also available but you must call Four County Transit at least 48 hours in advance of your trip.
